We drove toward Washington State, and headed west and drove parallel to the Columbia River. A beautiful drive, a lot of wind. Hood River looks like a great place to visit on the next trip. Not sure how well these photos will look, they were taken out the window while driving. If they look bad when I can check them later, I'll take them off.

Start of Day 1
Today the plan was to leave at 8:00 am....but any time winding up four kids, and their parents.....and remembering all the stuff that it takes to go on a trip like this.....it takes a lot of work.....and there sure is a lot of stuff. We loaded up the rental van we picked up last night and we got on the road by 9:00 am...an hour behind target, but not unexpected. With the price of gas, we needed something that got better milage than our normal ride.
During the trip we have a GPS unit sending data as to where we are at. We're finding moderate succes with that.
